The movie is light on trench warfare and focuses more on the soldiers coming together to celebrate their similarities\u2014their Christian faith and love of music and French wine\u2014in spite of&nbsp;it all. This act of grace is profound, but sadly, also temporary. Otherwise known as \u2018Der 90.&nbsp;Geburtstag\u2019,\u202fA Dinner for One\u202fshows a butler struggling to help his employer to celebrate an annual dinner party which consists of several courses and lots of drinks. It starts with the familiar trope of two families, one \u201crefined\u201d and the other \u201cvulgar,\u201d running into each other again and again during their Christmas vacations in the resort. The storyline includes a convoluted love plot and lots of skiing action shots.&nbsp;So,&nbsp;if you love Italy, and you really love \u201880s movies, this is the film for you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"301\" src=\"http:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/vacanze.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1066\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/vacanze.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/vacanze-300x141.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Alles&nbsp;ist&nbsp;Liebe<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This 2014 German film&nbsp;is&nbsp;essentially Europe\u2019s slightly less&nbsp;well-known\u202f<em>Love Actually<\/em>.\u202f<em>Alles&nbsp;ist&nbsp;Liebe<\/em>\u202fis the tale of ten men and women in Frankfurt whose stories intersect during the Christmas season. Following a remarkably similar format to\u202f<em>Love Actually<\/em>,\u202f<em>Alles&nbsp;ist&nbsp;Liebe<\/em>\u202fis based on\u202f<em>Alles&nbsp;is&nbsp;Liefde<\/em>, a 2007 Dutch film which itself was a reinterpretation of\u202f<em>Love Actually<\/em>. So basically, you could argue that\u202f<em>Love Actually<\/em>\u202fhas created its own genre of international film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" src=\"http:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/alles.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/alles.jpg 375w, https:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/alles-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>8&nbsp;femmes<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Set at an isolated mansion in the snowy countryside of 1950s France, a family is gathered for the holiday season. But there will be no celebration \u2013 their beloved patriarch has been murdered. The killer can only be one of the eight women closest to the man of the house. Comedic situations arise with the&nbsp;revelations&nbsp;of the dark family secrets with this&nbsp;all-female&nbsp;all-star cast including&nbsp;Catherine Deneuve, Isabelle Huppert, Fanny&nbsp;Ardant&nbsp;and Emmanuelle&nbsp;B\u00e9art, each playing tongue-in-cheek caricatures, from a scheming sister to a glamorous wife and bookish daughter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"485\" height=\"677\" src=\"http:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/8-femmes.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1068\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/8-femmes.jpg 485w, https:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/8-femmes-215x300.jpg 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Klaus&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In this colourful family friendly&nbsp;Spanish&nbsp;animation,&nbsp;the Postal Academy\u2019s worst student, Jesper, is sent to&nbsp;Smeerensburg, a small village located on an icy island above the Arctic Circle, where grumpy inhabitants barely exchange words. Jesper is about to give up and abandon his duty as a postman when he meets a local, Klaus, a mysterious carpenter who lives alone in a cabin full of handmade toys, and subsequently brings about the genesis of Santa Claus.
