Here, Millie, shares her experiences of studying French and Spanish at university and the opportunities this has afforded her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Studying\u00a0French and Spanish has opened a wealth of opportunities for me, both\u00a0on\u00a0a professional\u00a0and personal\u00a0level. As a direct result of my language skills, I\u00a0worked as an intern at Clifford Chance in Paris, liaising with international clients, translating legal documents, and promoting well-being initiatives within the firm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/paris-1024x640.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1244\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/paris-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/paris-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/paris-768x480.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.whs-blogs.co.uk\/linguistica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/paris.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Paris &#8211; France<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u00a0was also employed\u00a0as an English teacher in Seville, creating learning resources\u00a0in order to prepare\u00a0students for official Cambridge exams.\u00a0I have also been credited for the translation of a short Spanish language film,\u00a0<em>Katabasis<\/em>, which\u00a0was\u00a0sent to several international Film Festivals in 2022. This\u00a0experience was particularly rewarding as I had to convey the director\u2019s exact vision and meaning to a global audience, requiring\u00a0significant reflection and\u00a0communication\u00a0skills.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On a more personal note,\u00a0I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring\u00a0many\u00a0different\u00a0areas of\u00a0France and Spain\u00a0on foreign language exchanges and during my year abroad, meeting people from all around the world, who I am still in contact with to this day!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We love hearing from our former students.
